Abstract | |||||
In inner-rotating non coaxial cylinders, axial flow causes a hydraulic bearing effect by which the inner cylinder is put at the center of the axis of the outer cylinder, because of the pressure distribution along the surface of the inner cylinder. When the rotating speed becomes higher, whirl force is generated by the pressure distribution in the narrow gap side. Therefore, pocket-type hydraulic bearing was added for anti-whirl vibration between the rotor and the wearing, based on an experiment and flow analysis. The pockets suck a part of discharged water of a pump and pressurize water along the rotational direction in the pocket. The pressurized water enhance the hydraulic bearing effect. The analysis results showed good agreement with the experiments, and the analysis method for the hydraulic bearing of vertical-shaft pump was established. | |||||
